The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 requires employers to ensure so far as is reasonably practicable, the safety of their own staff and that of other road users, when vehicles are being driven on company business. The Corporate Manslaughter Act 2007 places the responsibility for failings on individuals, directors, managers and others who can now be prosecuted, as well as the organisation itself.
Approximately one third of all traffic accidents involve a vehicle being driven on business.
